CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

Closure of Studios

Given the rapidly changing situation, the school expects that the studio building will remain closed until further notice. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully and will inform students in good time when we expect the school to reopen. Communication will be delivered via Student/Parent link email.

Studying Remotely

The school has now moved to online learning support. Students can continue to check their email, open the student video portal and engage with their tutors online.

Weekly practical and tutorial schedules will be sent to students directly.

The decision to close the school, move all learning online and offer support remotely has been taken in order to protect students and staff, whilst allowing students to continue learning and maintain remote access to support services.

We will continue to email you about any significant changes so please check your email, please check your emails regularly for the latest advice.

Students may communicate directly with staff as necessary and should also contact Mr Moore or Ms Phayre with any specific or personal questions.

Summer Showcase Performance

The annual school performance scheduled to take place at the Concordia Theatre on May 24th has now been cancelled. Supports who have already purchased tickets to the event will receive a full refund. The refund will be issued by the Concordia Theatre box office directly.

The school plans to continue preparations for the school performance once we are permitted and plan to present showcase material to small audiences of family and friends via informal studio performances.

2020 Graduation

In line with most large-scale events, the University of West London has regrettably taken the decision to cancel the July graduation ceremonies planned for 30 and 31 July at Twickenham Stadium. However, UWL will still be holding a formal graduation event for all students graduating this summer.

At this graduation event, students will be able to wear graduation gowns, have formal photographs taken, collect your degrees and do so in front of your family, friends and wider University community.

Student finance

The Student Loans Company (SLC) has confirmed that students will receive the scheduled or next instalment of their maintenance loan at the planned start of the summer term, regardless of whether their university or provider has made alternative arrangements for teaching.

Applicants for 2020 entry

Following the announcement that exams including GCSEs, AS levels and A levels will not go ahead this summer, we would like to reassure all applicants that we are committed to providing the necessary support and guidance to ensure admission into The School of Ballet Theatre UK will not be affected for students who have been offered a place on a course that is due to commence in September 2020.

Staying safe

As you will be aware, the Prime Minister has announced strict new measures aimed at protecting people from the coronavirus outbreak. You should now only leave your home in very limited circumstances.

As the situation changes daily, we will be doing our best to provide you with the most up to date information.
